Choosing Our Own Way
Updated: 1 day ago
There is a point where
watching other people’s choices
teaches you something about your own.
Not because their way is wrong.
Not because ours is right.
Just because we start to seeing
what brings us peace
and what takes us away from it.
Noticing the patterns we don’t want to repeat.
Chaos we don’t want to live inside.
Ways of relating that don’t fit anymore.
And then comes the harder part:
Choosing something different.
Even when it means being a little more alone.
Even when it means disappointing people.
Even when it means accepting
that some relationships won’t look the way we imagined.
Not cutting everyone off.
Not judging.
Not trying to convince anyone to change.
Just quietly choosing our own path.
Letting people be who they are.
Letting ourselves be who we are.
Not chasing.
Not forcing.
Not abandoning ourselves to belong.
And trusting that a life can be
smaller, quieter, different…
and still be full.
Maybe belonging is actually here:
not in finding the path everyone else is walking,
but in becoming willing to walk our own.
