Care Without Losing Yourself

Present without becoming responsible for everything.

To help without rescuing.

A little structure when things feel chaotic,

without needing to control the whole situation.

Noticing what we need.

What our family needs.

And letting other adults carry

what belongs to them.

Having boundaries doesn’t make contribution smaller.

It makes it more genuine.

Because when we’re not secretly

overwhelmed, resentful, or abandoning ourselves

to keep everyone else comfortable,

we can actually be there.

Fully.

Offering what we truly have to offer.

And then stepping back.

Maybe this is part of growing up…

learning that love doesn’t ask us

to disappear inside it.

We can belong. We can contribute. We can care deeply.

And still remain ourselves.
